What is a Point of Interest?
A Point of Interest, Place Of Interest, POI, is een special place.
It can be a parking, or a restaurant, but also a special place in nature like a waterfall.
A Point of Interest is characterized by its GPS coordinates.
Most navigation systems and GPS receivers ara capable to upload and download Points of Interest.

What is a route?
A route is a serie of route points that captures a route plan or itinerary.
Each route point is characterized by its GPS coordinates, like a track point or Point of Interest.
For a navigation system such as TomTom, a limited number of route points are sufficient for a route to plan.
Because a navigation system itself has a route planner, and uses it to go from route point to route point.
For a GPS receiver, such as Garmin, a larger number of route point are required.
Because a GPS receiver contains no route planner, for each directional change a route point should be defined.

What is a track?
A track is a serie of track points, that captures a traveled itinerary.
Each track point is characterized by its GPS coordinates, like a route point or Point of Interest.
In most cases, a track exists of many track points because track points are produced e.g. each second.
Tracks are suitable for GPS receivers, to retake a defined path.
Tracks are less suitable for navigation systems, as a navigation system interprets a track as route with a limited number of route points.

What is my collection?
My collection is a personal folder with gathered Points of Interest, routes and tracks.
By putting all your favorite Points of Interest in my collection, you can generate a POI file with only your selected POIs.
